SPA 24 HOURS 70TH EDITION - ICONS OF SPA
To celebrate the 70th edition of the Total 24 Hours of Spa we asked Belgian motoring artist Clovis to draw us some of the most iconic cars that helped write the history of the Belgian endurance classic.

Number six is the 1990 Schnitzer BMW with its iconic Fina livery.

At the end of the Eighties the Spa 24 Hours lost its European Championship status, but for a while, the same cars remained part of the event, largely thanks to massive Belgian sponsorship.

After being beaten by Ford in a wet ’89 edition, BMW entered some quick DTM M3 machinery through the Schnitzer and Bigazzi teams. The former took the double, narrowly beating the sole remaining Ford Sierra. Johnny Cecotto, Fabien Giroix and Markus Oestreich were at the wheel of the Schnitzer-BMW with its iconic Fina livery.
